Column by Sunny Leone: My journey from adult entertainment to the beautiful Bollywood

I sometimes have to pinch myself and think from where to where have I come and all the amazing things that have happened. There's a moment where I was sitting on the couch with my husband when I was offered Bigg Boss and we just said, "Screw it, let's do it, whatever happens, we are going to take a chance." It was that particular moment that changed my life. It was a moment of saying, "Yes, I'm going to take a chance to do this."

What I can say about my journey is that it's not the normal journey. It's not something that's the norm. I see myself as someone who has done everything backwards and now trying to move forward. It hasn't been easy. It still isn't easy. My journey is full of craziness, madness, ups, downs, highs, lows, just all of it.

When I meet people on the streets, get emails from women and even husbands and wives asking me questions about their love life, I realize that if anything I give people the hope to talk about something openly. The whole idea of sex is not that crazy. Everybody's doing it. It happens at every single day and every second of the day, all around the world! When you open yourself up to being able talk about different things, you also open yourself to being safer or having a better life with your partner and I think that's good.

People consider adult entertainment industry as dirty or unsafe. However, adult entertainment in America is probably safer than two people meeting at a bar and going back to their apartment and having an intimate night together. You have no idea where that person has been, you don't know what they were doing yesterday or a week before! And that's something that's not openly talked about even in America. You don't meet somebody at a bar and ask someone, "So when was the last time you were tested?" For me, that's a first-date question. When you talk about these things, it makes people more aware. But in India, people prefer to proclaim that "I'll be virgin until I get married" or "I believe in love and arranged marriage" etc. Even in case of my parents, there was no talk about these things because nobody had sex out of marriage

During Jism 2 release, there were protests against the film and my posters were burned. I realized that there would be people who love me and I guess there would be people who don't like me. If you want to burn me, fine, I don't care. Light the pictures, not me, personally! And anyways, I can't change people's perception. I can only change one person's opinion at a time. Just give me 5 minutes to have a conversation with you and you'll know that I am just as normal as everybody else. I know there are people who are scared of working with me. But for everybody out there, you'll never have a harder working co-star than I am. That'll only happen with time.

But then, we are all getting judged every single minute of the day. Someone's always judging you. When you put yourself out there on the big giant screen, you put yourself out there to get judged. I can't change people's perception, unless they actually want to give me a chance. Also, I am aware I don't think I can change my past. I can't erase the internet and all the things that I have done. I am not even ashamed of what I have done. My past has got me standing on this position today. I am happy for that and I am proud of it. Sexy is something that I am never going to get rid of. It's who I am. I think what people don't realize is that they are watching Sunny Leone grow up. Being an adult actor was one chapter of my life and that chapter is closed. So I am not trying to shed any image. I can't do both properly. So I have closed that chapter so that I can totally focus on Bollywood.

As far as the sexiness goes in films, there has to be sexiness. That's why we love watching movies. We don't watch Shah Rukh Khan take his shirt off and think, "Oh, he's like the guy next door"! Instead, we think that "He's hot; he's sexy"! Here I'd like to admit that my perception of bold and sexy is already skewed and on some other level! I consider myself as a goof ball. I am a big kid stuck in a sexy body.

There's a scene in Ragini MMS 2 where Rocks (character played by Parvin Dabas) says, "Ye porno se Ritu-porno Ghosh kab se ban gayi?" In real life, a lot of people feel the same about me. And I've also seen it happen in front of me and also online. But I am not who people think I am. I am not even close to that person who people think I am. Shame on you for judging me!

I am happy I am not a gossiping kind of person unlike many other actors. I like to just stay away from all the drama and would prefer doing my job and going home. I want to have fun. If I make friends along the way and create some great relationships, then that's wonderful. For me, a career in Bollywood is my dream come true! Why would I want to mess it up? Why would I want to go out and be a part of some party scene and then let people start talking about it in a different way? They are already talking about me in very different ways! I don't need to keep adding to it.

People think when someone works in the adult entertainment industry; he or she is of a certain way. They don't see adult entertainment as a job. But it's more of a job than anything else. What goes behind the scenes in other fields, industries or in entertainment industry itself, I am not that person at all. I am an open book to most people. You ask me a question, you get a straight answer from me. I neither have anything to hide nor do I want to put myself in such a position. Whatever I have done in my life, I did with my own conviction and my own decision. No one was forcing me. Nor did I feel forced!

We have to be comfortable with what we are. I am very confident with who I am. I might not talk about myself in that way to people because I just don't. My personality is not like that. But I love what I do. I think if the movie calls for me to be sexy, then great. You believe me as a sexy character in the movie…woot woot! I did my job!

I think I am very true to my sun sign - Taurus. I am bold in every way. I am very nice to people. I have a lot of patience. But when you push me into a corner, I will come out fighting and I won't stop until I get what I want. The one thing I love to do is to prove people wrong. It's something that I thoroughly enjoy.

And anyways, no matter if they like me or hate me, they are still Googling me!

Salman, you are the reason Im here today - Sunny Leone

Sunny Leone

"My strength to keep pushing forward comes from numbers and all I want to do is just work more and more to beat these numbers," said a jubilant Sunny Leone in a Bollywood Hungama exclusive interview with Faridoon Shahryar after emerging as the number one Google searched Indian celebrity for the year 2014 beating Indian Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and Bollywood's Blockbuster Khan Salman Khan. "One day maybe my dream of working with Salman will come true and until then I will always be watching his movies," Sunny said wistfully. As honest and upfront as always, Leone is comfortable with her past and promises to work extremely hard to win the hearts of her fans in the year 2015. She also shares her thoughts on the humungous response to her column, My journey from being an Adult star to the beautiful Bollywood that totaled nearly 2 million page views and 65,000 likes on Bollywood Hungama. "Regardless of my past and because of my past I am who I am today," she says.

You had famously said in your column on Bollywood Hungama, "They may like me or hate me, but they are still googling me". Now with you topping the Google 2014 search in India, how do you look at your statement?

I had no idea what I said would actually be this huge. People might look at me badly, don't want to work with me, or think I'm here just for the moment... my answer to that is I am here as long as my fans keep me here and according to the numbers, the people of India are interested in who I am and I am so very proud of that. I worked very very hard through the year and this, as I've said before, is my reward from the people for that hard work. Regardless of my past and because of my past I am who I am today.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is number 2 while Salman Khan is number 3 on the most searched list on Google in 2014. You are number one on that list. What do you have to say about Mr Modi and Salman?

To Mr Modi, I wish him luck in bringing the country forward. I have high hopes from him to make it easy for NRI's like myself and my husband to do business in this great country.

To the dashing Salman you are one of the reasons I am here today. On my last day of Bigg Boss 5 you wished me luck in Bollywood and because of your good wishes from the start it has given me strength to move forward. One day maybe my dream of working with you will come true and until then I will always be watching your movies. God Bless!

Your column 'My journey from the adult entertainment to the beautiful Bollywood' on Bollywood Hungama has totaled over 2 million page views and over 65000 likes. It's a testimony to your immense popularity on Internet. What are your thoughts on the glorious response to your column?

I am happy that people are interested in me and my work. My strength to keep pushing forward comes from numbers and all I want to do is just work more and more to beat these numbers. I won't stop till I drop. (Smiles)

How will you sum up the year 2014 for yourself?

Complete Insanity!! I learned a lot from the failure of my movie Jackpot to the uber success of Ragini MMS 2and 'Babydoll'. Miss Ekta Kapoor gave me a chance to succeed with the movie and the hit song 'Babydoll' and for that I am ever grateful. My husband Daniel Weber worked his butt off to make sure I had the chance to be "Sunny Leone" and yet kept me whole through the insanity or schedules and people we encountered. Lots of ups and not a lot of downs! It was an unbelievable year and I hope and wish it only goes up from here.

What, according to you, has been your most significant achievement of 2014?

I think the most significant thing to happen this year was gaining fans I never thought I would have, young children. The amount of kids who came to me this year because of one song was incredible. My favourite moments were, in Nepal when a little girl in school uniform followed me around and when I said hello she started singing 'Babydoll' to me. Also will never forget when I visited St Catherine's ashram for girls this year they started dancing and singing to 'Babydoll'. I can't fully describe the feeling but I was given a gift by them of love.

You've got some important films lined up for release in 2015. How excited are you for the New Year?

This year was a working year for me, and I believe next year will be the year of judgment by critics, viewers and the Bollywood fraternity. Because some of these movies will be released and that's when I will really begin to understand my position in this industry. I am excited and I am very scared and nervous.

You are an extremely attractive woman but personally I find your simplicity and honesty the most attractive aspect of your personality. Is this simplicity and easy going nature responsible for your popularity within the film industry as a professional?

I 100% believe in professionalism. I believe in being a good person. My parents were very humble people and I have come from the ground and moved my way up in life. It wasn't all luck, it was sweat, tears, and blood. I understand what it's like to be a producer and how much it costs per minute to keep things moving. So I try to be as professional as I can. Of course things go wrong on set and I am still learning how to handle situations here but the basics of who I am will never change. I will always stand for what's right.

Indian PM Modi, Mukesh Ambani and Sunny Leone top the Yahoo India 2014 search list

Sunny Leone, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani topped the Yahoo India most searched celeb list in 2014.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is surely the winner in 2014. Online Indians were most fascinated in 2014 by PM's reforms and style, Yahoo India said in its 2014 Year in Review (YIR) report on Monday. Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani led the list of finance newsmakers.
The report said Modi led the political top 10 list. Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Amit Shah and Arun Jaitley also featured in the list.
"The slew of reforms and Modi's efforts to improve diplomatic ties were of ongoing interest to Yahoo users. 'Make in India', the three magic words that constitute Modi's mantra while abroad, made it to the top of the list of Biggest Financial Events of the year," the report said.
The YIR was based on users' daily search habits and an editorial selection of what they read, recommended and shared most on Yahoo in India.
Mukesh Ambani led the list of YIR's 2014 Finance Newsmakers. Also on this year's list are Apple Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Infosys CEO and managing director Vishal Sikka.
"Coming to the nation's most influential people, Mukesh Ambani makes a second appearance at the No.1 spot, with Tata Group boss Cyrus Mistry and Gautam Adani, chief of the Adani Group of Industries, making up the top three," the report said.
"Not surprising for a cricket-crazy nation, the game continued to dominate the most-searched sports. Alongside M.S. Dhoni and Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar - wielding a pen this time for his much talked about autobiography - featured among cricketers of the year," it said.
Boxer Mary Kom, who became the first Indian woman boxer to win a gold medal at the Asian Games, clinched her position among the Brightest Sports Stars, as did fellow boxer Sarita Devi, who came in the same category.
Sunny Leone was the most searched celebrity for the third year in a row. Deepika Padukone reserved her place among the top-searched celebs, with Alia Bhatt joining the list.

Here’s what Sunny Leone has to tell Kim Kardashian about Bigg Boss

Sunny Leone was working in the adult entertainment industry when Bigg Boss, the Indian version of Big Brother, invited her on the show. Today, she is a Bollywood actress. In fact, Leone signed her first Bollywood filmJism 2, on the set of the reality television show.
Now, it’s Kim Kardashian’s turn.
The American reality star, who shot to fame thanks to a leaked sex tape, among other things, will enter the Bigg Boss house on Nov. 22. For a one-day appearance, Kardashian has charged the channel Rs85 lakh ($140,000).
Leone offers a retrospection and some tips for Kardashian:
I travelled to India as Sunny Leone when Big Boss invited me to be on the show. I had been to Delhi and Himachal Pradesh—where most of my family lived—as a child, but I would be there as Karenjit Kaur Vohra. Nobody knew me. I went to the bazaars, and I would sit by the street shops to get mehendi put on my palms. I would also eat different kinds of street food.
But after I went there as Sunny, I don’t get to do all this.
The culture in India is emotional, and Indians are the most accepting, loving and supportive. I am fortunate that I have a fan base in India, and they are—let’s say, most of them—are compassionate. I was coming from a world that they did not understand—and that’s true not just for India, but all the places I go. Even the US.
But the reaction of the Indian fans, after watching me on the show, is unbeatable. They did a sort of separation in their heads of Sunny Leone, the girl from the US, and Sunny Leone, the girl from Bigg Boss, who now does Bollywood films.
My strategy as a contestant was to not have one. I was just myself. And I just wanted to have a good time. And this is what I hope Kim does, though she is just going to be there as a guest.
The show tests you in a way that maybe you have never been tested before, because you’re stuck in a box, and there’s no way out. But I am not a fighter. I don’t like confrontation. I didn’t worry about the drama. I let other people do the drama, because there’s enough of that, that goes on.
Sunny-Leone
I didn’t go on the show with a mission to win. I wanted to just step one foot in the door—whether I was there for a day or a week. However, I ended up being there for six weeks.
I remember when the offer came my way. This is months before the show was actually aired. My husband told me, “There’s a reality show like Big Brother in India. Do you want to do it?” “No, I don’t,” I instantaneously said. I had been through a lot with the Indian community not liking the profession I chose, and my life’s decision. I didn’t want to go there, and go through it all over again.
Then, they sent me a presentation, and my husband encouraged me to do my research. We discussed the pros and cons.
From there, I started reconsidering. If I didn’t take such a chance, I might not get another again. The show is mainstream Indian television—and some 25 million people, in at least 10 different countries, watch it. I was itching and wanting that moment to happen, so that I could take a step forward in a different direction.
Ultimately, I said, “Screw it. Let’s do it. Let’s see what happens.” It’s like business—I needed to take the leap of faith.
In the worst-case scenario, I could go for a week, but soon after, I could just return to my little bubble. I was worried about my safety—about the safety of the contestants. Though I grew up in an Indian home, and I know them to be the nicest people, I also know there can be a bad apple within a crowd who feels strongly about my background and can hurt, or hurt someone I love, and I didn’t want that.
Bigg Boss was looking for shock value. But I think when my name came up, it was to do with something that has never been done before in the country: that is, bring someone from the adult entertainment industry. On top of that, an adult entertainer from the US. They might have wanted someone completely different from the stereotypical girl. That was such a success story of what can happen on the show.
Like, Kim Kardashian can be a guest.
Like me, she is going to create fans in a completely different world. In the US, she is a megastar. She is a brand—and her sisters are geniuses. If only someone could pick their brains and find out how all this happened—Kim has created one of the largest brands in the world. Whether you love her or don’t love her; every single person in the world will be interested in her. It is her style; her fashion; it is how she carries herself.
The Bigg Boss house is going to be a little bit of a shock to her—especially if the contestants don’t clean up that morning. It is usually a mess—and you can’t blame them because it is a truly self-run house. No one comes in to do the dishes for you. Or cleans up after you. No one makes your bed, or washes your clothes.
She is not going to understand any Hindi either. That’s going to be a little hard for her—but she should know everybody in India speaks English. But who knows, she might be taking lessons already. She is a very smart woman. Though, it will be fun if the contestants are assigned to get her to use Hindi.
Lastly, I want to tell her that she is going to change her perception about Indian food. Sometimes in the West, we don’t like the Indian cuisine because it is hard to find authentic homemade food. In restaurants, they usually overdo the spices. At least in the Bigg Bosshouse, they have the greatest diet-food ever, because we used less butter and less spices.
If she adjusts to the food, language and people, she will make them fall in love with her.
Get ready for the TV ratings to go through the roof!

Sunny Leone, Pamela Anderson, Claudia Ciesla, Sofia Hayat – 7 foreign celebrities who spiced up Bigg Boss!

Sunny Leone, Pamela Anderson, Claudia Ciesla, Sofia Hayat – 7 foreign celebrities who spiced up Bigg Boss!

With the confirmation of Kim Kardashian entering Bigg Boss 8, we look back at the controversial celebrities from around the globe who added spice to the reality show

Bigg Boss is known for bringing a flurry of foreign celebrities to spice up the show each year. From Pamela Anderson to Sunny Leone and Andrew Symonds, the makers have upped the game every year by getting foreign celebrities to interact with the Indian audience.
Now with Kim Kardashian all set to make her grand debut on Indian television in the eighth season of Bigg Boss, the buzz is likely to hit the roof in the days to come.
Here are 7 other foreign celebrities who added that special zing to the show.
Sunny Leone
She was the contestant who gained more than just popularity from the reality show. Her stint on the show raised quite a few eyebrows, given her career as a pornstar. But slowly and steadily, with her subdued and calculated moves, Sunny managed to win a lot of favour and was soon a mass favourite. She was sweet and candid on the show and eventually went on to even bag a Bollywood film!
Jade Goody
Bigg Boss hit the perfect casting coup when they brought in Jade Goody in Bigg Boss 2 which was hosted by Shilpa Shetty. The differences between Shilpa and Jade go back to the UK version of Big Brother, when Jade’s comments on Shilpa sparked worldwide protests of alleged racism. Jade was later diagnosed with cancer and had to leave the show. But despite their hostile interactions in the past, Shilpa and Jade shared a cordial relationship during her stay in India. Atithi devo bhava, anyone?
Pamela Anderson
Pam did not enter the show as a contestant but as a special guest, but did quite a lot to make sure the TRPs scaled right up! From entering the house in a translucent white sari to dancing to Madhuri Dixit’s iconic Dhak Dhak Karne Laga number, Pamela made sure to heat things up!
Andrew Symonds
The cricketer had been in the news for a controversial comment on Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh. When he entered the Bigg Boss house, he played the game subtly, without getting into any arguments, barring a few occasions when he lost his cool. Bigg Boss helped us see a different side to the aggressive Aussie batsman!
Claudia Ciesla
Claudia was just starting off in Bollywood doing item numbers, when she was approached to be a part of the show. She danced, she sang and shared some chemistry with co contestant Pravesh Rana. But it was her sexy pool acts which sky rocketed TRPs on the show.
Elli Avram
Possibly the most innocent and sweetest amongst all the foreigners who have been on the show, Elli came out of the house, with her head held high. From her naughty pranks on the other housemates to her sweet camaraderie with host Salman Khan, people could not have enough of Elli and her eviction from the BB7 house definitely broke a lot of hearts.
Sofia Hayat
Sofia was famous in the Bigg Boss for her insignificant fights, frivolous arguments and nonsensical explanations. Not only the audience, but the controversial foreign star also received a lot of flak from host Salman Khan.

Complete insanity: Sunny Leone on career high - An Interview

Actress Sunny Leone is juggling between different Bollywood films, dance numbers in the southern movie world and brushing up her Hindi skills. On a career high, the Indo-Canadian talent says she’s here to stay.

In an interview, she has spoken about her new projects and about her journey in the Hindi film industry.
Excerpts from the interview:
Q. All of a sudden there is a lot happening in your career. How do you feel about this sudden surge of activity?
A. Well, to me it’s beyond a surge. It’s complete insanity, everything that is happening. I am so unbelievably happy about everything that is going on. Happy to be working and happy people are showing so much support.
Q. Interestingly Bobby Khan’s film casts you as an exotic princess and would not be focused on your physicality. Does this shift in Bollywood’s attitude towards you, please you?
A. I don’t know about shift. This is just a different type of movie from what I have been cast for in the past. I believe that every movie should be different and I’m extremely excited about how this movie unfolds.
Q. What do you play in the Pritish Nandy production?
A. I am not allowed to discuss the details of this movie yet. All I can tell you is that it will be someone that people have never seen from me.
Q. Have you been able to improve your Hindi? When would you be able to dub your own lines?
A. Yes, I can dub but it comes down to the producer and how they feel about it. We shall see.
Q. When we last spoke, you were keen on avoiding item songs. What made you accept “Pink Lips”?
A. I never avoid anything. It’s about the right opportunity coming your way. I have a great relationship with T-Series and when they asked me, I said ‘yes’ based on my relationship with them and also the song was a killer.
Q. You are also doing a song or two in South Indian films?
A. Yes, I am and am having a blast doing it. It’s very different from Bollywood.
Q. Your next release “Tina and Lolo” is a girl-bonding film. How did you get along with your co-star Karishma Tanna?
A. I love her. She is a complete doll and so much fun to work with. We both have a lot of good memories together shooting.
Q. It’s been three years since you made Bollywood your home. What have you learnt about the Indian entertainment industry during this time?
A. I have learned so much in a very short time I don’t know where to begin.
Q. Have you finally made some friends here?
A. I definitely have made some friends and I will be friends with them for the rest of my life.
Q. Do you feel you have finally left your earlier career as an adult film actress behind?
A. Yes I do.
Q. Do you feel you are finally a part of Bollywood?
A. I feel a part of my fans more and yes, Bollywood too. I’m here and want to stay.

Sunny Leone in Splitsvilla 7

Looks like Sunny Leone is on a roll ever since her success in Raginni MMS 2. But what is interesting is that the adult film actress-turned-Bollywood-heroine has surprisingly decided to return to the small screen as the host of a popular reality show. She was last seen on the small screen in Bigg Boss 5 as a contestant. She will follow the footsteps of Sherlyn Chopra in the upcoming (seventh) season of MTV Splitsvilla. The show is expected to go on floors by the end of this year. Since the last six months, Sunny has been in talks for this show and the deal was finalized only last week. However according to sources, she is yet to allot her dates for the show as she is also juggling a few film offers and is required to give ample time at length for the shoot of this show. The show's production team is currently hunting for the location of the shoot. The show is the Indian adaptation of the American format, Flavor of Love.

The curious case of Sunny Leone

After Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan, she is the most searched celebrity on the Internet. Though she’s a household name, her name is taken in whispers. Her films and item numbers sound an alarm bell for the Censor Board and celebration for the viewers. If Jism 2 was not enough, Sunny Leone set the mercury rising with Ragini MMS 2. Such is her popularity that our mails and social networking sites were flooded with questions when the word got out that she was being interviewed. So Filmfare decided to get your questions answered. You ask, she answers…

Given your bold past do filmmakers seek your consent for bold scenes ?
Siddiqui, Mumbai

Yes, I do read the script. If the script demands bold scenes, then I do them. Jism 2 and Ragini MMS 2 required intimate sequences. No director has asked me to romance my co-star on the spot.

Aren’t you wary of being objectified?
Parul Sachdev, Hyderabad

Even actors are objectified. We are products. But what we do as actors is not something real, it’s fictional. The whole notion of being objectified is blown out of proportion.

Initially, you found it difficult to procure a house in Mumbai because people had a problem with your past. Is that true?
Sahil Bhatia, Bengaluru

That’s a complete lie. No one had an issue with me. The real story is that my father-in-law had to undergo a bypass surgery. So my husband Daniel (Weber) and I immediately flew to California. We put our house hunt on pause because family comes first. This made people presume that there was an issue with my profession, which was false.

Do you think doing Jackpot was a mistake?
Reena Singh, Kolkata

Jackpot was a mistake. The film bombed. The script was brilliant when I read it. But as actors we can’t take charge of everything.
I can’t pinpoint mistakes.

If you had a daughter and she wants to be an adult film actor as well?
Deepak Saigal, Delhi

I’d be completely lying if I said I wouldn’t be shocked. I’d like her to be educated first. But who am I to stop her? I can’t be a hypocrite. I won’t be happy though. Daniel might even get a heart attack.

Would you endorse a fairness product?
Samir Mendpara, Gujarat

I don’t believe in a fairness products because in California people want to get darker and darker. They spend so much time getting tanned. It’s surprising to see people using fairness creams in India.

A lot was spoken about your lesbian scene in Ragini MMS 2, but it was a mere kiss?
Vinod Jain, Agra

The kiss was blown out of proportion. To sum it up in one line, the lesbian kiss wasn’t something crazy for me.

Is it difficult to resist temptation in the glam world?
Swati Chopra, Punjab

I believe in monogamy. And my husband is the hottest man I know. I have a crush on him and I get to wake up next to him every morning. I’ll never find someone as attractive as Daniel.

Farah Khan said that she would have a gay encounter with you at gun-point on Koffee With Karan. Your take?
Delzeen Irani, Mumbai

I take it as a compliment. It’s great that I’m on top of her list when she thinks of a gay encounter. Usually, I feel shy when girls hit on me, though it doesn’t sound normal coming from me!

Sunny Leone gets emerald-diamond necklace on birthday

Indo-Canadian adult film actress Sunny Leone turned 33 Tuesday with a quiet night with her husband Daniel Weber, who gifted her a diamond and emerald necklace.

"I was tucked into bed by 10 p.m. That's how I brought in my birthday. Boring? What to do? I landed a night before from Los Angeles and was heavily jet-lagged. I shot the whole day on the day before my birthday and then crashed out."
"At midnight, someone was knocking on the door with a huge bouquet of flowers from a friend. So that was nice. Then I woke up to a relaxed session of working-out, after which I left for shooting again. It's an ideal way to spend a special day," said Sunny, whose recent release "Ragini MMS 2" did well at the box office.
Sunny recalls her childhood birthdays when her mother would bake her a cake.
"For one of my birthdays, she baked me a Barbie cake. That's every girl's dream. I remember my 13th birthday. All my school friends came for a party. I got a tape of music of my favourite music bands and other fun gifts. I had the most loving parents who showered me with love on my birthday. I missed them the most on my birthday. I think of them everyday," she said.
She considers her husband to be the best gift of her life.
"And he brings me the gifts that I like. He gifted me a diamond and emerald necklace this birthday which he got specially designed for me. I feel blessed to have a husband who heaps me with gifts," said Sunny, who has been in a relationship with Weber for six years.
Married for three years, she says their love "hasn't diminished".
"How have we made it last so long? Beyond being my husband and lover, he is my best friend. We've seen the best of times and the worst of times together. I can consult him about anything, any problem. He is always there for me. I can lean on him for anything, no matter how silly," said Sunny, who met her husband in Las Vegas.
"He was based in New York. I didn't think at that time that anything would come of our relationship because we lived in different cities. But Daniel doesn't give up easily. He bombarded me with flowers, chocolates and gifts all over the world wherever I happened to be. He would fly in from anywhere in the world to meet me," she said.
"I just want a happy home with my husband. I am not a party girl. I don't have too many friends. I spend all my time in the studios and then I am home. That's why I went to sleep at 10 p.m. on the eve of my birthday," she added.

Sunny Side Up: Bollywood Baby Doll Turns 33

When Sunny Leone got her ticket to Bollywood, her arrival was viewed with interest and apprehension in equal parts. What would this star of X-rated movies and a film industry not long graduated from substituting flowers for people in kissing scenes make of each other? Two years later, Sunny's resume is slim but there's no denying that she's a legit actress.
Here's a pictorial look at her journey as she turns 33.

Sunny Leone, real name Karenjit Kaur Vohra, was born in Ontario, Canada on May 13, 1981. She apparently chose the name "Sunny Leone" because "Sunny" was her favorite nickname and "Leone" was suggested to her by Bob Guccione, the publisher of Penthouse.

Sunny Leone's family migrated to USA when she was 15 years old and settled in Orange County, California. Though she was granted American citizenship in 2006, Sunny continues to keep her Canadian citizenship.

She graduated from high school in 1999 and enrolled in a college in Orange County to train as a pediatric nurse

Sunny Leone is married to Daniel Weber who is also her business partner. The couple reportedly met at a party in 2008 and married on January 20, 2009.

Sunny Leone started her adult entertainment career with Penthouse magazine in 2001. She was the March 2001 Penthouse Pet of the Month and the 2003 Penthouse Pet of the Year. In 2003, she signed a three year contract with Vivid Entertainment which kickstarted her career in hardcore adult films. Her first movie was titled Sunny and was released in December 2005.
Sunny Leone began going mainstream with her stint as a red carpet reporter at the MTV India awards in 2005. She also did a cameo in the film The Girl Next Door, besides appearing in in Ja Rule's video Livin' It Up and a video for Kidd Skilly.
She was also a contestant in the second season of the Fox reality show My Bare Lady 2: Open for Business. In 2007, she filmed a scene for Debbie Does Dallas and was also part of a Showtime documentary of the same name.Sunny has also acted in the Hollywood movies The Virginity HitPirate's Blood and Deadly Stingers.
Sunny Leone shot to fame in India after her appearance on the 2011 Indian reality TV show Bigg Boss. Her stay in the Bigg Boss house brought her to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt's attention and he offered her a starring role in Jism 2.
Jism 2, Sunny's debut Hindi movie, was directed by Pooja Bhatt and co-starred Randeep Hooda. The movie may not have created fireworks at the box-office but Sunny's performance was hailed by critics as unexpectedly good.
Sunny's next celluloid outing was the hugely popular item number Laila in Sanjay Gupta's Shootout At Wadala which released in 2013.
This year, Sunny was first seen in Kaizad Gustad's Jackpot which turned out to be a damp squib at the box office. She next featured in Ekta Kapoor's much-awaited Ragini MMS 2. The movie was declared a hit and Sunny received good reviews for her performance. The song Baby Doll from the film was a chartbuster.
Besides films, Sunny Leone also signed a few endorsement deals. Among others, she is the brand ambassador of an energy drink.
Sunny loves dogs. She has two of her own and has campaigned for PETA in India.
Sunny has also featured on many magazine covers such as FHM, Front and Jane magazine.
Sunny Leone will next be seen in Mastizaade, which she hopes will be her biggest film till date. The film will go on floors this August. She will also co-host the seventh season of dating-based reality TV show MTV Splitsvilla with VJ Nikhil Chinapa.
We wish Sunny a very happy birthday and a great year ahead.
